Funded ITQ Training with Information Horizons

The ITQ is the new IT user qualification and training package which is based on today's most widely used software packages. It is the first of a new breed of National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) designed in partnership with employers, in response to the increasing demand in the workplace for computer skills.

Information Horizons offers the ITQ at both Foundation and Intermediate levels, through a programme of a highly practical hands-on courses and a work based assessment.

The Level 1 ITQ is a Foundation level qualification and includes the following units:

  • Using the Internet
  • Word processing using Word
  • Spreadsheets using Excel

For more information on the Level 1 ITQ, click here >

The Level 2 ITQ is an Intermediate level qualification and includes the following units:

  • Operate a Computer
  • Word processing using Word
  • Spreadsheets using Excel
  • Presentations using PowerPoint

Comprehensive training (9 to 11 days, normally spread over several months) will be provided on selected units, during which candidates will develop hands-on skills.

The candidate will develop a portfolio of work to demonstrate the use and application of IT skills in the work place, guided by an experienced trainer/assessor from Information Horizons. The majority of the portfolio will be electronic, for example copies of relevant Word documents and Excel spreadsheets. It will be developed during the courses at Information Horizons and by the candidate at work.

In addition, Level 2 trainees will sit a short online test on each application. A mock test is taken first and feedback is given on any incorrect answers, to help prepare for the test.

On successful completion of the portfolio, the candidate will be awarded the ITQ qualification certificate at level 1 or level 2.

The training courses are normally held at our fully equipped Holborn Training Centre, and some assessment is also carried out at your work place. If you have 6 or more delegates, however, the training can be delivered at your offices, and tailored to any specific needs.

The commercial cost of these comprehensive training and certification programmes is up to £2000 but for qualifying organisations in London, the programmes are fully funded through contracts with the London Development Agency, the Learning and Skills Council and the European Social Fund. A training deposit of £200 + VAT is required to ensure your commitment to the programme, and this is repayable on completion.
