Apprenticeships with Information Horizons

The Information Horizons IT User Apprenticeship is a subsidised training programme for young employees, which is funded by the Government's Learning and Skills Council.

The Apprenticeship covers the use of IT in the work place, providing skills that can be applied to many job functions and roles. The programme is not aimed specifically at IT professionals but at those who need to use and apply IT in the work place.

We have a number of places available for 16-24 years olds.

There trainee will complete the ITQ, the new Information Technology Qualification which is based on today's most widely used software packages. The ITQ was designed in partnership with employers, in response to the increasing demand in the workplace for computer skills.

The training is usually taken over a period of between 9 and 12 months. It can, however, be condensed into a shorter period depending on aptitude, prior skills and the amount of time which the trainee is able to allocate to the training.

ITQ
The trainee will attend a series of highly practical, hands-on courses and workshops in order to complete the new ITQ (Information Technology Qualification). Courses include the industry standard Microsoft Office applications including Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access and Internet Explorer. An Information Horizons trainer will help the trainee to structure and complete a portfolio of work which will demonstrate the trainee's use of IT skills and application in the work place..More information >

The majority of the portfolio will be electronic, for example copies of relevant Work documents and Excel spreadsheets. Trainees will also complete several short online tests following their training. A mock test is taken first and feedback is given on any incorrect answers, to help prepare for the test...More information >
