Microsoft Office

Apprentices learn how to use all the key applications included in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. They undertake a number of assignments during their training to prove their proficiency in each of these vital programs.

Where will training take place?

All the training is delivered by Information Horizons at our Holborn Training Centre. The programme also provides support for learners in their workplace, where some assessments will be carried out.

If an employer has a group of several candidates, and has training facilities of their own, we can deliver the training at their office.

Key Skills

The Information Horizons apprenticeship programmes do not just focus on building your technical knowledge and understanding, they are also develop your communication skills, literacy and numeracy to ensure that you are equipped to be a top contributor to any employer.

These valuable Key Skills are taught in practical workshops.  Candidates who already have the required skills and knowledge,  can take assessments designed to identify  any gaps in their knowledge, in order to achieve the qualifications.  In our experience, the Key Skills training courses are valuable and enjoyable refreshers.

Funding

The value of these comprehensive packages of training and certification is at least £4000 - which is fully funded or heavily subsidised.

Available at Level 2 (Intermediate) and Level 3 (Advanced), the Apprenticeship covers the use of IT in the work place, providing skills that can be applied to many job functions and roles.  It is not aimed specifically at IT professionals but at those who need to use and apply IT in the work place.

The trainee will complete the ITQ Diploma, the Information Technology Qualification which is based on today’s most widely used software packages.  The ITQ was designed in partnership with employers, in response to the increasing demand in the workplace for computer skills.

The training is usually taken over a period of 6 months.

ITQ

The trainee will attend a series of highly practical, hands-on courses and workshops in order to complete the ITQ Diploma.  Courses include the industry standard Microsoft Office applications - Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook and Internet Explorer.  An Information Horizons trainer will help the trainee to structure and complete a portfolio of work which will demonstrate the trainee's use of IT skills and application in the work place.
