Available at Level 2 (Intermediate) and Level 3 (Advanced), the Apprenticeship covers the use of IT in the work place, providing skills that can be applied to many job functions and roles. It is not aimed specifically at IT professionals but at those who need to use and apply IT in the work place.
The trainee will complete the ITQ, the Information Technology Qualification which is based on today’s most widely used software packages. The ITQ was designed in partnership with employers, in response to the increasing demand in the workplace for computer skills.
The training is usually taken over a period of 6 months.
ITQ
The trainee will attend a series of highly practical, hands-on courses and workshops in order to complete the ITQ. Courses include the industry standard Microsoft Office applications - Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook and Internet Explorer. An Information Horizons trainer will help the trainee to structure and complete a portfolio of work which will demonstrate the trainee's use of IT skills and application in the work place.
Technical Certificate
Learners who complete the Advanced Apprenticeship will also receive a further Level 3 Certificate in IT Applications (the 'EDI Certificate'). This additional qualification covers advanced use of Word and Excel and intermediate use of either Access or PowerPoint.
