What are Apprenticeships?

Apprenticeships are your chance to study for practical skills and qualifications that employers really value, and at the same time gain real world experience by working for an employer.

Bhup

Microsoft Office

Apprentices learn how to use all the key applications included in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. They undertake a number of assignments during their training to prove their proficiency in each of these vital programs.

How much will I get paid?

The wages vary depending on your employer, but as an Apprentice, you'll be paid a minimum of £2.60 per hour.  Many employers pay more than this.

Key Skills

The Information Horizons apprenticeship programmes do not just focus on building your technical knowledge and understanding, they also develop your communication skills, literacy and numeracy to ensure that you are equipped to be a top contributor to any future employer.

Where does the training take place?

You'll attend a series of short courses at Information Horizons modern, fully equipped Training Centre near Holborn in central London.

You'll put the skills you learn into practice at work, and will be supported in the work place by a qualified, experienced assessor who will support you to complete your Apprenticeship.

Why do an Advanced IT Apprenticeship?

One of the most significant skills gaps in ICT in London is the development and implementation of IT systems and services – so if you enrol on the Advanced Apprenticeship, your chances of getting a great job and a career at the cutting edge are high.

What training will I receive?

With the Advanced Apprenticeship, you’ll extend your existing knowledge of industry standard software packages to advanced level, including Windows, Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.  You’ll work towards an ITQ (Information Technology Qualification) at level 3, the equivalent of 2 or more A levels and will also take a level 3 Certificate in ICT Applications.

You'll understand how to troubleshoot problems with hardware and software, diagnose and fix faults and give technical advice and guidance to others.  With your advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office applications, you’ll be able to support users of industry standard software.

You'll also learn other Key Skills that are essential for career progression, including Communication and Application of Number, depending on your prior GSCE achievements.

How long does the Apprenticeship take?

Our IT User Apprenticeships normally take up to 9 months. You'll attend training sessions at Information Horizons approximately once a month and will receive support in the work place from a qualified assessor throughout your Apprenticeship.
