European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL)
Overview
The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) is the European-wide
qualification which enables people to demonstrate their competence
in computer skills.
ECDL has major benefits, in:
- raising the level of competency in
computer skills
- improving productivity, efficiency and staff motivation
- providing a tangible benchmark for competency in computer
usage throughout the organisation
No prior knowledge of computer skills is needed to study the ECDL.
Staff who are familiar with parts of the syllabus may wish to use
the program to supplement their knowledge, fill in gaps and learn
additional applications.
The ECDL syllabus is designed to cover the key concepts of computing,
its practical applications and their use in the workplace. It is
broken down into seven modules, each of which must be passed before
the full ECDL certificate is awarded.
The seven modules that make up the ECDL are:
Whilst ECDL is an independent qualification, at Information Horizons
we base the training and testing on the most popular, widely used
Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
ECDL is not like any other qualification - although it utilises
the positive aspects of the best.
It is fast becoming the most widely recognised qualification in
the field of work-related computer use, because it is targeted
at the full spectrum of the population, and because of the support
and monitoring of the organisations behind it, such as the British
Computer Society
in the UK.
Information Horizons Ltd is an accredited Test Centre and can
provide training, course materials, pre-test assessments and ECDL
testing. For further information, call a Training Advisor on 020
